Snowshoeing is one of sports that you can't do in Taiwan.
It sometimes snows on Hehuan Mountain in Taiwan.
However, unlike Newfoundland island which is coverd by snow.
Taiwanese must try snowshoeing once.
//此篇為交換學生日記//
(我和室友借的snowshoes,在costco買的,大約一雙80加幣/ I borrowed snowshoes from my roomate. about CAD 80 )
會穿snowshoes(上圖)。
Grenfell campus
It's hard to walk on the thick snow with boots or sneakers.
People need to wear snowshoes when going hiking on the mountain.
Otherwise, your feet might stuck in the snow.
Grenfell campus students can borrow snowshoes from student housing office without paying fee.
(I found out snowshoes were on the wrong feet when I got home.)
Pipeline trail is famous in Corner Brook.
You can ask any local people about the pipeline trail.
I went there through Grenfell campus student.
It's easy to travel around pipeline trail .
You can see obvious footprints along the trail.
Sometimes, it's flat.
Sometimes, it's steep.
Watch your step.
There is a park next to the stream.
Some people go sledding there,
just like we slide on the hillside.
My friend is pigeon-toed.
She said it was hard for her to walk with snowshoes.
We spent about one hour to get on the top of mountain.
We can see the whole Grenfell Campus here.
This place gave us full view of the Corner Brook.
The scenery was beautiful and wide.
I was so tired that I fell down several times on the thick snow without taking a break.
I didn't wear the gloves when I fell down.
My hands were freezing.
I joined this activity with one Taiwanese, one Chinese and a group of Korean.
Even if It is high latitude in Newfoundland,
you can still see the flowing stream.
The ice falls was majestic.
I was curious about the color of ice falls.
Why were they chartreuse?
There were also many observatories.
After I came to Canada, I found out that Canadian are extremely concerned about environmental protection, such as global warming and endangered animals.
Here is protection of the endangered marten sign.
Water sprayed out from ice cave.
You can see on the picture of "pipeline trail".
We spent 3 hours going hiking around the pipeline trail.
It was exhausted and sweated.
I even didn't wear my gloves and pulled the zipper away.
You need to bring your water and snack.
